Lyme Disease Author Brings Battle Cry of
Hope to NC
Article by: Emily Stansberry
Hope came to North Carolina in the form of Katina I. Makris in April. Katina came armed with a captivating memoir of her ten year battle story with Lyme Disease, compassion for suffering North Carolinians, and a charge to the state of North Carolina to “Wake Up!” Every individual in the audience identified with the dark, harrowing tunnel of Katina's Lyme Disease journey; however, many sufferers in attendance weren't able to yet identify with the healing and joy of Katina's Lyme journey. Tears were shed and hearts were uplifted by Katina's brave, encouragement: hold tight to HOPE and know that TRIUMPH awaits every tenacious Lyme sufferer. POSSIBILITY and HEALING were offered to all who listened.
The North Carolina Lyme Disease Foundation (NCLDF) sponsored two events featuring Katina I. Makris and her award-winning book Out of the Woods: Healing Lyme Disease-- Body, Mind & Spirit in April. The first event took place on a warm Sunday afternoon at the American Institute of Healthcare and Fitness Building in Raleigh, and the second event was at the Christ United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill. The first portion of Out of the Woods: Healing From Lyme Disease Body, Mind and Spirit is a memoir of Katina's Lyme battle, and the latter portion of the book details the “Nuts and Bolts” of healing from Lyme Disease, including tests and therapy. Katina signed copies of her book at both events.
Katina is a graduate of Duke University and the Stillpoint School of Integrative Life Healing, a Certified Intuitive Healer, former newspaper health columnist, natural healthcare practitioner and past board member of the Council of Homeopathic Certification. Katina will be the host of “Lyme-light Radio with Katina,” launching this month at http://lymelightradio.com/.
